57. Akanzereba

Three weeks ago, we got a visitor in school. Asiuk and Saviour brought Asiuks brother Akanzereba to the school. A young man, 17/18 years of age, I think. This happens more often; The two sisters of Saviour came to the school regularly, till the family moved to Sandema. From that moment Saviour lives with Asiuk and his family.

I assumed this visit was also like that: What is my small brother doing all day.

But that was a wrong assumption. Akanzereba comes to school now every day. He studies with the biggest group and after the vacation he will go to the next group. He is very well motivated. Every day he welcomes the bus with a huge enthusiasm, picks together with Asiuk the stuff I take to school every day and puts it in the second classroom.

He helps the other children to get in and out of the bus. He doesn’t help Gilbert: too heavy! But, that means he takes his responsibility. A good example for our group!

Unfortunately I think, that when the raining season starts again, and with that farming, Akanzereba has to stop visiting us. His responsibility will lay with the family, so he has to farm from that moment.

Of course, I don’t know that for sure, but Akanzereba is a positive young man in the group, and I hope he will keep on coming! Maybe he might learn how to read and write in future!
