39. a day at school

Our day at school usually starts at 9am. That sometimes varies, because the Motorking cannot always leave on time. We try to leave at half past 8.

When we arrive at school, we first sit in the circle. At their own table. Then we sing a number of songs led by Daniel and Mary: Hello good morning; A week has 7 days; Early in the morning and Prayer is the key. After singing, everyone washes their hands and then we eat the breakfast the children took with them. In the meantime, I give Loïs water. (Rosemund doesn't want that.)

After breakfast, everyone goes, almost automatically, to his or her workplace. A group starts with a puzzle and the other group gets mathematics from Daniel, for example. That changes later. Sometimes I also teach, sometimes I help a child, sometimes I'm going to make a work of art with someone. That all depends on what is needed. Mary starts her physiotherapy sessions with the children who have their turn.

In the meantime, Martha has cleaned and starts cooking. Godfred does what is necessary: from peeling peanuts, to repairing Motorking, to .... Kojo and Richard what has priority at that moment. From farming to roofing, from plumbing to carpentry.

At half past 12 I start feeding Loïs. That takes a very long time. I start half an hour earlier than the others and then we are, usually, ready at the same time. After eating the children paste their teeths and go out. Godfred and Kojo go outside to surveil. The rest eat quickly and also go outside. Break is not really there for the adults.

After playing outside there are still lessons. Mary changes the children who need it for the last time. At half past 3 we get ready to leave, so that we are back at the bus station in Sandema at 3 o'clock, where parents come to pick up the children.
