15. goodbye paul
I would almost say: 'Unfortunately, the universities are no longer on strike.'
Paul, being in a wheelchair himself, worked as a volunteer at the Lumen Mundi school for 3 weeks. He is a 'self-made' student, because since he had polio, he had no support from anybody. Now he starts his second year of Integrated Science at the University of Winneba. Unfortunately for him, the lecturers went on strike. A super big happiness for us!
He has done a lot and learned a lot. His enthusiasm made the children laugh and he always motivated the children to continue working. He has learned that education is not about saying before and after (copy-paste), but about insight. A small example of this: He really wanted to learn how to mix colors. He has learned the theory, but he has never done it himself. So, in his farewell booklet there is now a page with the mixing colors. Furthermore, there are the handprints of the children, and the staff has also made several pages. Richard made a calabash for Paul. Paul was super happy with it. He has gotten the printed photos of his farewell. It was a fun party.
Too bad Gilbert couldn't be there!
