Blog 65. Our first excursion

The first excursion is a fact! Begin October we went to the bridge in Doninga. That is a bridge build by Munck Infrastructure, who helped us a lot when we were getting started in Siniensi.

Our children are not used to get out of the house/compound. We want to teach them that there is more than their house, compound and Sandema market. Because they go to school, they know that Siniensi also exists, some children go to visit relatives in other villages, but that really is an exception.

All in the bus (including the staff and the seamstresses) and two drums, the trip started of. Godfred played the drum and the rest was singing! That already was a big, big party! On the way I asked if they know where we were going. Ezekiel answered: ’Yes, to see a lot of water!’ And indeed, we did!

It was a cloudy day, which was very good for us, so it wasn’t that warm. A nice breeze was blowing. Everybody was excited when we arrived. We took only one wheelchair, because another one didn’t fit in anymore. So, a few children were carried over the bridge.  We walked from one side to the other side and in the mean time Margreet explained about the strength of the water: why is a river making curves.

We all had a great time!
